Overview of OT-16– Er: Glass Q-Switched Laser Transmitter
The OT-16 is a high energy q-switched 1.54 mm diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) laser from Optitask LTD. This air-cooled, passively q-switched laser is explicitly designed for high energy laser transmission, in the field with an operating temperature range from -32oC to 55oC. The OT-16 delivers over 2.5 mJ of pulse energy with a full width half maximum (FWHM) pulse width of 40 ns and a pulse repetition rate of 1 Hz in continuous operation or 5 Hz in burst mode. With an output beam diameter of <0.8 mm and a beam divergence less than 5 milliradians these lasers are ideally suited for long-range transmission. The OT-16 also has a built-in photodiode for use as a reference for the starting signal.
