Laser Doppler Velocimetry Lasers Overview
Laser Doppler velocimetry is a method for measuring the velocity of transparent, or semi-transparent fluids. This process relies on a shift in frequency of laser Doppler velocimetry lasers, to calculate the speed at which the fluid is moving. Unlike its counterpart particle imaging velocimetry, laser Doppler velocimetry does not require a particle to be added to the flow reducing the sample preparation and contamination. It must be noted though that the signal detection and processing can be somewhat complicated. Since this change in frequency tends to be relatively small, it is essential that the laser source is highly coherent and stable, for this reason, single frequency continuous wave sources are used as laser Doppler velocimetry lasers. Overview of 783L-2XA: 783nm SLM Laser
The 783L-2XA is a 783 nm Stabilized SLM diode laser from Integrated Optics. The IO Matchbox series includes single mode laser diode modules offering excellent performance and reliability in an ultra-compact “all-in-one” driver integrated laser head. The 783L-2XA comes standard with internal voltage up-conversion that allows using a 5V power supply while maintaining low noise operation. The monolithic design of the Matchbox Series laser diode modules includes thermally stabilized optics in a hermetically sealed housing ensuring reliable and maintenance-free operation. All the Matchbox series modules include a 12-month warranty and are RoHS compliant. This laser diode module can be supplied with an integrated optical isolator and a clean-up filter. The 783L-21A is the free space version, other versions are available depending on the variable X in Part number.
