Brightlaser Lasers Overview
Brightlaser, founded in 2014, is becoming a global leader in VCSELs technology. Brightlaser possesses its own VCSEL intellectual properties in wafer design and advanced chip processing. Brightlaser, headquartered in Hong Kong, has a 160,000 sqft factory in Zhong Shan that offers state-of-art GaAs manufacturing techniques and the first 6-inch VCSEL chip fab, testing, & packaging line in mainland China.
VCSELs combine many of the advantages of LEDs (such as surface emission, wafer-level testing, and diverse packaging options) with the advantages of EELs (such as coherence, beam quality, and efficiency). VCSEL-based sensors can provide more information than LED-based sensors, enabling more accurate measurements (e.g. in pulse oximetry applications, penetrating deeper into the skin). VCSELs provide the benefits of a narrower spectral linewidth emission, a 4X smaller shift in wavelength with temperature, and as much as an order of magnitude reduction in power consumption. Simply replacing LEDs with VCSELs can reduce the number of light-emitting diodes by more than 10 times and can improve sensor performance. The advantages of VCSEL-based proximity sensors also include the ability to sense objects farther away, smaller objects, and enhanced resistance to ambient light interference.
