Providing New Dexterity: Creating Ultra Broadband Solutions

Luxmux has developed broadband source solutions in a groundbreaking way, offering an unparalleled usable range of the electromagnetic spectrum with more user control than any similar product can offer today.

Luxmux developed its products to integrate the near-infrared (NIR) region (1.2um – 1.7um) of the electromagnetic spectrum in a way that suits any user’s needs. Luxmux does not restrict broadband source products to a specific set of values on the spectral bandwidth. Although individual lights may have limitations on their nm range, Luxmux overcomes these limitations through the successful combination of optical filters that selectively transmit lights of different wavelengths. We call this method “spectral stitching,” and it can be applied across the entire NIR range, as well as extended into the VIS range.

Spectral stitching helps to increase the reach and coordination of different spectral bands. This method enables them to blend more smoothly, effectively, and efficiently, much like the simultaneous strengthening of muscles in our fingers, hands, and wrists, while also increasing coordination.

Luxmux has reached a new level of dexterity and experience in the field of optical spectral combination. We have developed an elegantly designed and assembled scheme that allows users to tailor this technology to their individual needs through this competency.

Advantages of Luxmux’s Spectral Stitching:

Luxmux’s broadband source (BeST-SLED®) technology can provide up to 19 different spectral combinations in the NIR range (1.2um – 1.7um). Development is ongoing for future products in the areas of SWL (Swept Wavelength Lasers), between 700 nm – 1100 nm, and VIS with fiber integration, which provides a variety of sample interfacing configurations.

Some of the key features of the BeST-SLED® devices include:

  • A stable broadband (400nm bandwidth) continuous Gaussian spectral emission in a single integrated package
  • Elimination of multiple packaging enclosures, sockets, and external I/O connections needed to achieve ultra-broadband emission for your application
  • Integrated power meters for measuring maximum power levels within µW
  • On-board diagnostic capability without the need for external measurement equipment
  • Real-time closed-loop control of power output
  • Stable output power for highly demanding applications
  • Built-in safety loops
  • Minimal risk of damage to light sources

Compact, Optical Spectral Engine

OSE Optical Spectral Engine LuxmuxOptical Spectral Engine (OSE): it’s not a new term. Luxmux has combined the most critical components of this product most efficiently, resulting in a simplified and more compact design. However, simplification and miniaturization are not the only goals we set out to achieve. Luxmux’s broadband source technology combines both cost-efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

We have integrated customer-specific components into our optical circuit, as expected, but with the necessary cost/value reduction, to the point where both traditional and non-traditional applications can incorporate these ultra-spectral (or “super-wide”) broadband sources.

The OSE is the most valuable part of the ultra-broadband Integrated Spectral Bench (ISB) module. Our ISB system includes a graphical user interface, allowing total “command and control” of key performance indicators. The availability of analytical data and the ability to control the device makes BeST-SLED® instruments user-friendly.

Ultra-Broadband Solutions

ISB Integrated Spectral Bench LuxmuxBeST-SLED® devices integrated into a completely self-managed ISB fully control the active light source for optimum power, spectral shaping, and customized spectrums, as needed for various applications. These features are beneficial for digital communications systems, various test and measurement applications, and fiber-optic-sensing technologies that require ultra-wide bandwidth systems.

An Optical Engine with a Purpose

With BeST-SLED® devices, you are in total control. Luxmux offers a highly specific and purpose-fit hermetic package, designed with proprietary optical blocks and filters used for specialized spectrum combination and without beam-steering components or phase-lock crystals. We designed the OSE as a highly efficient vehicle for single-pass configuration and minimal isolation losses.
